M'lore: Consumer Forum gives verdict on complaint against builder

In the wake of a complaint filed by the residents against their builders claiming construction deficiency in housing before the Dakshina Kannada District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, the forum has now passed verdict against Sequeira Star Home Bilders.

The residents of the apartment constructed by Sequeira Star Home Builders represented by Felix Silvester Sequeira had deficiency in housing construction as per the complaint.

As per the verdict, the forum asked the builder to get done the following things
-  get the completion certificate and proper door numbers to the apartment belonging to the complaints and convey the apartments to the complaints with a clear marketable title
-  to set right the defective flooring work, telephone point, latches and locks provided to the door system
-  to set right the lift facility, cracks in wall
-  complete and provide landscaped garden and children play park, recreation, health club,  intercom  and others
-  replace wooden door frames in place of concrete door frames
-  to provide accounts for maintenance charges

Apart from setting right the defects, the consumer forum also asked the builders to pay Rs 50,000 each towards damages in case of failure to issue a completion certificate within three months. In case of failure to provide the above within the stipulated time the opposite parties are liable to pay Rs 500 per day from the failure date till the date of issue of certificate with permanent door number.
