Kundapur: Accident near Trasi - Six injured, two serious

Kundapur, May 20: After a Maruti car hit a Tavera vehicle coming from opposite direction near Mullikatte near Trasi in the taluk on Sunday May 19 afternoon, six persons were injured. Two of the injured persons are in serious condition.

Those travelling in Maruti car were coming to Navunda village in the taluk from Sagar in Shimoga district to take part in a feast for guests arranged in connection with a marriage. At an elevated stretch of the road, the car and Tavera vehicle got involved with a collision.

Imran from Nehru Nagar from Sagar, his six-year-old daughter, Sikra Khan, wife, Nasreen Khan, relatives, Farooq Sheikh, Tahsin Banu (27), and Nasrin Basu (26), all of whom were travelling in Maruti car, suffered injuries of different degrees. Imran Khan and Sikra Khan were in serious condition, and hence, shifted to Manipal Hospital. The other four are being treated in a hospital here.

The Tavera vehicle was coming towards the town from the direction of Byndoor. Due to the impact of the accident, the Tavera vehicle overturned, and then tumbled into the roadside drain. However, those inside the vehicle escaped miraculously without any injuries. Maruti car, which twirled on the road for some time, came to a stop on the road, blocking the traffic.

Policemen from Gangolli station rushed to the spot and took steps to clear the road. A case was registered relating to this accident.
