I agree 100% with Mr Eric Coelho most of our manglorens are become Konglish people very sad. But our neighbouring states people if he is a millionaire or highly educated still they use their own language among them and even with unknown person also.

hallo Mr. coelho, Ijust agree with you.Konkani Meetings later talk English.Sure can talk in english when you are with local People other than mangaloreans.I too experienced this "konglish".since I too am fond of Konkani and mangalorean rites und we speak only Konkani, children mostly speak lokal but speak and understand Konkani.Even three years ago,as our daughter got married we celebrated Roce in Konkani as in Mangalore with all verses(wowyo)it was a emotional Event.there were mangalorean families present.and mangaloreans dishes .

It is good to promote Konkani in Canada. I have seen in India how people promote various issues like Water Harvesting, Saving Greenery and many issues. People come in large number for such promotions, have a wonderful time and forget the whole issue thereafter, waiting for the next year event to come faster. Among the members shown above, how many of them have made their children read, talk and write in Konkani. How many of the above members children speak in Konkani at home or even say their prayers in Konkani. Mark my words none of them. Do these people follow what they preach. Someone had said "Konkani is a servant's language" that gave me shivers down my spine. We have become "English Speaking Konkani Catholics". I have seen Indian Hindi Cinema awards function, where a actors/esses win a award and their thanks giving is in English and not in Hindi. If this organisation is formed to fulfill the objectives within the organisation, it is good. If it is formed to fund Konkani literature, Konkani, Even Konkan Sports outside Canada, then it is a question mark?. They say charity begins at home. So I feel the Canada Konkani Organisation should start their objective within itself and then move outside. I remember in UAE, people come for Konkani mass, they dont give replies in the church as the choir does it and after konkani mass they come out and talk in English. The Caesar Confectionary staff had said to me "Every mangalorean speaks only in English and feel ashamed to talk in Konkani". Speaking in Mother Tongue increase your value and status but since 1970s and 1980s we moved into Gulf and Western Countries we have become English speaking konkani Catholics.
