Mangalore: Thieves divert attention of woman, steal cash, valuables worth Rs 2 lac

Mangalore, May 10: In a repetition of several such past incidents, two men succeeded in diverting the attention of a woman and decamping with her cash and ornaments valued at over two lac rupees, on Thursday May 9.
The incident occurred near P V S Circle in the city. A resident of Gandhinagar, Mannagudda in the city, was moving in her car towards her residence, when she parked her car in front of a hotel for taking along some eatables. The mother of the lady went inside the hotel, as the lady sat inside the car with her child and waited.
A youth approached her and told her that a ten rupee note was lying outside the car, before continuing to walk away, talking over his mobile phone. Another middle-aged person who came there drew the attention of lady towards a ten rupee note that was lying outside the car.
As soon as the lady opened the door of the car and moved towards the currency note to pick it up, the two escaped after snatching a handbag kept on the backseat. The handbag reportedly contained gold ornament worth two lac rupees, Rs 11,000 in cash, ATM cards, driving licence, locker key, etc.
On a complaint filed by the cheated woman, a case stands registered in Kadri police station.
