Mangalore, May 3: “BJP has reached the final stage of campaign. Over the past five years BJP has done several development works which the Congress failed to do during their rule. Recently there was a survey in some media, and Congress asserted that it would win this election but the people are aware of BJP’s developmental works in the state," said former minister B Nagaraj Shetty. He was addressing the press meet held at district BJP office on Friday May 3 in the City.
"BJP activists are working from the grass root level. People know about the development works of BJP and they will support us in all eight constituencies as well as all over Karnataka,” he added.
"Narendra Modi has said how Congress is treating people with various examples and statistics. In our district we find voters in favour of BJP," he said.
MLC Monappa Bhandary slamming Janardhana Poojary, said, “Poojary has failed in his words; he said that Modi would never come to Mangalore and he would stop Modi’s arrival. Poojary has no control over his words; he always keeps changing his statements. Janardhana Poojary need not tell what BJP should do. Congress leaders are alleging that there are no BJP leaders in the state, hence they got a leader from Gujarat. In that case, why did Congress bring leaders from Kerala, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and even from Delhi like Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Dr Manmohan Singh for campaign?"
When a journalist questioned about the slow work on the vented dam, Bhandary said the work on the vented dam was started by the BJP government. When Congress was in rule it failed to start the work. Bhandary also said that after BJP came to power there was no water scarcity. "Before BJP government people used to fight for water in the streets," he added.
For a query over Nagaraj Shetty’s party hopping, Shetty defended himself and said, "In this democratic country we have the right to choose any party and hence I went left BJP because of some politicians who came in through ‘Operation Kamala’. Once they were out of the party, I came back to BJP."
