M'lore: Shettar does not know how to govern - Poojary

Mangalore, Apr 27: “Chief minister Jagadish Shettar is not serious about his administrative post. He is not aware of what he is speaking and he has failed to control his own people. I am sorry to say that he doesn’t know how to govern,” said Janardhan Poojary, addressing a press meet at the Congress office here on Friday April 26.

“Sonia Gandhi is scheduled to visit the city tomorrow at 3 pm. The public is requested to be at the venue at 1 pm for security checking. The election commission has stated that distribution of anything, even water is violation of code and conduct. In Bijapur, the SPGs were also not allowed to have water, but later, after Rathod requested the returning officer to at least let them give water, especially as it was too hot there, permission was granted. Hence, I am requesting the district returning officer well in advance to grant permission to at least distribute water, as it too hot here also. It is better if the returning officer passes a statement that distribution of water will not affect the code of conduct,” he added.

“Sushma Swaraj has stated in Gonikoppala that there are lot of issues in the Congress. But I don’t know whether to laugh or to cry at this statement as her words are completely meaningless. I think Sushma Swaraj is unaware of the internal fights in her own party. Their internal issues have raised to a higher level and as a result the party has been broken into pieces. Even today, in Davangere, the Lokayukta Court has issued an investigation order against the in-charge minister Ravindranath. The BJP party has been involved in these sorts of scams on a day-to-day basis,” alleged Poojary.

“In the history of Congress and its culture, we have never recommended any CM or PM before the election has taken place. But it is the stupidity of the BJP to chose its CM before the election has taken place. It is quite clear from this that the BJP has failed to understand the regulations about the formation of the government and its system.  The CNN-IBN survey reports have clarified that the Congress will be victorious in 117 to 129 seats. The total percentage of polling for BJP in the state is just 23 percent. The BJP is facing defeat in the upcoming election. They are already tense about this matter. This is also the case of the JD(S). They wanted to be the king makers, but they are also in the tension of defeat,” he added.

“The Congress manifesto has been the best one and is in favour of the general public. We have a single aim—winning the upcoming elections with a huge margin. And we are confident of achieving this. The BJP has even stated that the Congress has copied their manifesto and also they have been spreading news that the Congress has stopped the BJP from giving rice at Rs 2 per kg. But it was your government and you had all the rights to give that,” said Poojary.
