Mangalore, Apr 26: "There are a total of 933 polling stations in Dakshina Kannada district and 37 booths in four constituencies under my jurisdiction," said SP Abhishek Goyal.
He addressed the media during a press meet held at SP office on Friday April 26.
"For the smooth flow of election, sufficient Central Para Military Forces (CPMF) are deployed in the district along with other police officials and 250 home guards," he added.
Speaking about the new initiatives made, SP Goyal said there are altogether 12 checkposts in the district out of which 5 checkposts like Gundya, Charmadi, Saradka, Jalsoor and Farangipete have been installed with CCTV comprising of 4 cameras each. The CCTV camera has a recording memory capacity of 30 days said Goel adding the money foe this initiative is borne by the district administration.
Another initiative is GPS, wherein official can geographically locate each police station in the district through Google maps. Adding to that, he said all necessary arrangements are made to people’s security while voting in 24 Naxal affected areas.
Commenting on CPMF, he said majority of the people are from other parts of the country and in this regard training is provided to them so that they can speak common Kannada words. The training to them is provided through a video documentary.
A sum of Rs 21,70,000 has been seized by the police through their operation in checkpost at five separate incidents for carrying huge amount of cash, suspecting it to be meant for elections. SP said the money will be returned back if the party produces appropriate documents.
Out of the total 9500 weapons in the district, around 7500 weapons are deposited and few are exempted from depositing as they are live in rural and forest areas.
