M'lore: Rain brings relief to some places

Mangalore, Apr 26: A few places located in Sullia and Udupi taluks experienced rain on Thursday April 25. People living in these places got temporary reprieve from the scorching heat as a result.

Sampaje, Aranthodu, and Subrahmanya in Sullia taluk got good rain for about half an hour, coupled with thunder, on Thursday evening. Katapadi, Udyavar, and some portions of Udupi town experienced light rain on Thursday morning.

A number of places in northern hinterland received rains on Thursday with Dabka in Bidar district accounting for 7 cm, which was the highest in the state.  There were good rains in Savanur, Chitradurga, Haveri, Lakshmeshwar, Badami and some other places too.

Two deaths due to lighting were reported on Thursday. While Durugappa (33) from Malagondanahalli in Davangere taluk was struck by  lightening when watering his paddy fields, an eighth standard student named Manjunath (14) from Lambani Hatti in Bharamasagar, Challakere taluk,  died dur to lightning when bringing drinking water to home from the field in his bicycle.
