Myanmar, Indonesia ink accords


Yangon, Apr 24 (IANS): Myanmar and Indonesia have signed four more cooperation accords following talks between Myanmar President U Thein Sein and visiting Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in Nay Pyi Taw, official media reported Wednesday.

All the four are memorandums of understanding dealing with feasibility study for improving energy efficiency in power delivery and loss reduction pilot programs in Yangon; fertilizer production; capacity building in banking sector and development of precast concrete industry and project management services, reported Xinhua.

The signing was witnessed by Myanmar Minister of Commerce U Win Myint and Indonesian Minister for Trade Gita Irawan.

On Tuesday, the two countries had signed three key cooperation accords personally witnessed by the two presidents. These are a framework agreement on investment and trade, an MoU on cooperation in human resources development and an MoU on rice trade.

At the invitation of U Thein Sein, Susilo arrived at Nay Pyi Taw Tuesday for a two-day state visit to Myanmar.
