Udupi, Apr 24: “Chief minister Jagadish Shettar and BJP MP Varun Gandhi will visit the district for campaigning purposes,” said Udhayakumar Shetty, president, district BJP, speaking to press persons at the party’s district office on Tuesday April 23.
“The chief minister will be in the district on Thursday April 25 and visit Uppunda (Byndoor constituency) at 5 pm, Koteshwara (Kundapur constituency) at 7 pm, and Brahmavar bus stand (Udupi constituency) at 8 pm. BJP chief secretary Varun Gandhi will be campaigning on Friday April 26 from noon at Kaup, Udupi, and 4 pm at Hebri( Karkala),” he said.
Shetty added that campaigning is going good in the district with door-to-door campaigning being the primary concept. “We are getting a good positive response pointing at possibility of wins in all the constituencies,” he said.
“The Congress itself is a big curse to the party as leaders fight for seats and most of them are changing parties. This is an indication of our victory. The Congress campaign is highlighting the central government’s work which is full of scams and corruption—Rs 176 lac crore 2G spectrum scam, Rs 1.86 lac crore coal scam, Rs 52,000 crore government loan waiving scheme from farmer’s scam. This is as per the CAG report,” said Shetty.
“The BJP is confident of their development work in the district. No one elsebut the public knows everything. The look of the city has changed after the BJP came in to power. Sandhya Suraksha scheme has been a support to elderly people as the Bhagya Laxmi scheme has been for poor girls. Similarly, the 3 percent interest loan for fishermen and other such schemes,” he stressed.
Shetty added that another highlight of the BJP administration was that for the first time in India, 43 new taluks had been named together in one sitting and the district got two taluks—Byndoor and Brahmavar.
