Bangalore, Apr 23: The statement made by state KJP president Dhananjay Kumar on Monday April 22 lampooning BJP national leader L K Advani, for claiming that his party has now been cleansed of corrupt people, has come in for flak from the state and national leadership of the BJP. Kumar's allegation that Advani and his children had to be paid hefty sums by Yeddyurappa to remain in power, has been received with derision by the state as well as national leaders of the BJP, who are touring the state for canvassing votes for BJP candidates.
When questioned by the media persons, former state chief minister, B S Yeddyurappa, reacted at Basavakalyan in Bidar district on Monday evening, by just saying that he has lot of respect for L K Advani.
“Dhananjay Kumar should not have issued this statement. I hereby apologize to the people of the state for his utterances,” he said. However, he refused to field questions of the media in this regard.
BJP leaders including its national president, Rajnath Singh, have reacted angrily to Kumar’s outbursts. They have also filed a complaint with the Election Commission against Kumar.
Joint spokesperson of state BJP, Ashwathnarayan, said that Kumar would not have issued such a brazen statement without the support of Yeddyurappa.
"Yeddyurappa, instead of doing lip service in the form of insincere apology, should discharge Dhananjay Kumar from all party responsibilities for his irresponsible statements,” he demanded.
