Congress releases 'Vision Udupi-2025' ahead of Assembly polls

Udupi, Apr 22: The Congress party on Monday April 22 released its new booklet on development in Udupi - after 12 years - a booklet called ‘Vision Udupi–2025’.
'Vision Udupi–2025' in essence is the manifesto of the Udupi Congress, about development plans which Congress promises to undertake if it comes to power. The party declared that this particular booklet will be distributed door-to-door in Udupi constituency.
Pramod Madhwaraj, president, block Congress, told the media that Udupi will be a model district by 2025. The vision involves all the aspects of Udupi including drinking water deficiency. “The party is planning to provide drinking water 24x7 for 365 days.
Hi-tech bridge and roads will be constructed, tourism will be encouraged, fishing industry will be facilitated, education and health will be prioritized so also sports. Self-reliant industry agriculture will be uplifted.”
He also added that the electric terminals situated in Udupi should fulfill local needs rather than that of other districts. “Congress will do the needful for implementing this in the district. There will be enough substations and transformers formed to reach electricity everywhere.”
“A super specialty hospital will be constructed at a cost of Rs 500 crore. Better drainage facility will be provided to Manipal, Parkala, Malpe Kalyanpura, Ambagilu, and Biloor. The solid waste management system will be sophisticated. BPO and IT companies will be brought to the district to provide maximum job opportunity to the youth. Revenue and public issues will be sorted out especially issues like transfer, registration and title deeds etc.,” said Madhwaraj.
“The booklet talks about each and every field of life. Krishna Hegde, MLA from Mumbai is also an observer. As per the order of A K Anthony he will come here and next week Sonia Gandhi will be visiting Dakshina Kannada and Chikmagalur. We have young candidates here and expect 100 percent victory. I will be reporting the day-to-day activities of the district to the All India Congress committee. I have gone through all the problems faced by the district. Corruption should be weeded out,” he added.
Meenakshi Madhav Bannanje, president, Mahila Congress, Yathish Karkera, president,Youth Congress, Divakar Kunder, member, zilla panchayat, Pratab Hegde, and Laxman Shenoy were also present.
