Mangalore, Apr 21: The Billawa Mahila Sangha, Kudroli celebrated its decennial with a function at Town Hall here on Sunday April 21.
The programmed was inaugurated by Billawa Jagrati Balaga, Mumbai president Sharada S Karkera.
Addressing the gathering, she stressed on the need for education among women and said that it is education of women that leads to their empowerment as well as tranforms society. She also called for a change of mindset among men towards women and emphasized that men should respect women and acknowledge the fact that they are equals in every field.
She also raised concerns about the safety of women especially in recent times and said that a change in outlook and perspective is the need of the hour. She also added that the women's wing of Billawa Sangha is engaged in works that are aimed at empowering women and helping them stand on their own feet.
Billawa Mahila Sangha, Kudroli unit president Sumalatha Suvarna presided over the programme.

The day was marked by cultural programmes and competitions which depicted the folk culture of Tulu Nadu.
Billawa Samaja Seva Sangha, Beltangady president Prema, Billawa Seva Sangha, Malpe unit president Vijaya Bangera, Bhramashree Narayanguru Samaja Seva Sangha, Kota president Sudha A Poojary and others were present.
