Mangalore, Apr 19: Former district Congress spokesperson, M G Hegde, who had deserted the Congress and joined the JD(S) about two years ago, will be returning to Congress fold on April 27 along with Shashiraj Shetty and about 300 JD(S) workers. This was announced by Shashiraj Shetty at a press conference held in the city on Thursday April 18.
“We have already discussed the matter with Congress leaders. A function will be organized on April 27 for the purpose. JD(S) does not have any future in the district. We have held meetings with party workers and discussed all issues threadbare. Some have already migrated to the BJP. Around 300 persons will accompany us to the Congress,” Shetty explained.
Sullia assembly constituency JD(S) youth wing president, Jagadish Padpu, Vamanjoor block president, Rajiv Poojary, and Bantwal constituency unit working president, Basheer, will be among those who will be leaving the JD(S) for joining the Congress, it is gathered.
Reacting about the fielding of S P Changappa as JD(S) candidate in Mangalore (south) constituency, Shashiraj Shetty said Changappa does not even have primary membership of the party.
Jagadish Padpu, Rajeev Poojary, Harry Sequeira, Anil Sequeira, Asif Bengre, and others were present at the press conference.
