Kasargod: 180 kg ganja seized - Two held, woman from Uppinangady detained

Kasargod, Apr 10: A special team of policemen has succeeded in confiscating 180 kg of ganja from different premises in Uppala and Manjeshwar areas of the district on Monday April 8 evening. The team, which is engaged in a special drive against the drug menace, not only gained access to this rich haul, but also arrested two persons.
The value of the ganja seized during this raid has been put at Rs 27 lac, making it the biggest haul in recent years. Deputy superintendent of police, Mohanchandra Nair, and police personnel, Ramachandran, C K Balakrishnan, Narayanan, Mahendran, Ramachandran, and others were in the raiding team.
The team, acting on tip off, raided Azeena Quarters in Mallangai, Uppal, and found 30 kg ganja stashed in three gunny bags. Abdul Aziz (38) from Talangere, who was found residing at the address, was taken into custody.
During the police interrogation, Aziz revealed that more ganja was stored in a house in Bajal, Pavoor near Manjeshwar. During the raid there, the policemen recovered 150 kg of ganja. They also arrested Abdul Rahman (43), who was found in the house. The policemen learnt that the ganja was first stored in a house in Kunjattoor, before shifting them to Uppal and Pavoor.
A woman from Uppinangady, who was found during the raid at Mallangai, was also taken along for questioning.
