Karkala: One killed, three injured as truck overturns near Belman

Karkala, Apr 8: One person was killed and three others injured when a truck loaded with interlock tiles turned turtle after skidding near Belman here on Monday April 8.
The accident occured at around 5 pm at Kodimar-Indar.
The truck was plying from Karkala to Mundkur with four labourers in it. Among the four, two were on the top of the truck.
The deceased has been identified as Devaraj from Yadagiri. Eesha, also from Yadgiri, was seriously injured.
The accident occured when the driver lost control of the truck due to break failure and the vehicle skid. One of the labourers was killed on the spot while two others were seriously injured.
The driver escaped unhurt, while two other labourers Mallappa and Lingappa sustained minor injuries.
The injured were rushed to Manipal hospital.
It is said that the truck belonged to Shashikant of Karkala.
Karkala circle inspector Valentiae D'Souza, SI Ajmat Ali and former Belman panchayat president Xavier D'Mello visited the spot.
A case has been registered in Karkala police station.
