Mangalore, Apr 8: Divine Mercy feast which falls on the Sunday after Easter was celebrated at Infant Jesus Shrine in Bikarnakatte on Sunday April 7.
The feast celebrated worldwide by Roman Catholics was celebrated with religious fervour by the devotees. As preparation to this feast, 9 days Novena and Divine Mercy prayers were held.
On the feast day, at 4 pm adoration prayer was conducted to the devotees after which there was Eucharistic celebration offered by Andrew Leo D’Souza, parish priest of Pakshikere church.
In his homily, he briefed on the importance of the feast.
Fr Pius James D’Souza, superior of St Joseph Monastery, Bikarnakatte, Fr Elias D’Souza, director of Infant Jesus Shrine were the concelebrants.
Large number of devotees gathered and actively took part in the celebration.

The devotion to Divine Mercy Sunday grew rapidly after its designation by Pope John Paul II and now it is widely celebrated by Catholics.
