Goa speaker reprimands five MLAs for skipping Question Hour

Panaji, Apr 4 (IANS): Goa Speaker Rajendra Arlekar Thursday reprimanded five legislators who had skipped Question Hour and asked the legislators to pull up their socks.

Arlekar cautioned legislators at the end of Question Hour after five legislators --Vishnu Wagh (BJP), Pratapsing Rane (Congress), Jennifer Monserrate (Congress), Vishwajeet Rane (Congress) and Mauvin Godinho (Congress) -- were found absent when their questions were called by the speaker.

"It is disappointing that five members were not present when their names were called. It is not a good thing. We need to be more disciplined. This cannot be tolerated," Arlekar told the 40-member house.

The current budget session of the state legislative assembly runs a marathon 46 days, and concludes May 2.
