Anxiety aplenty as SSLC examinations begin in twin districts

Mangalore, Apr 1: SSLC (10th standard) students all over the state are appearing for their examinations beginning from Monday April 1. SSLC is an important stage in the lives of the teenagers, whose future can be made or marred by the results of this examination, as they can stake claim for the subjects of their choice in PUC depending upon the marks scored by them in this examination.
For enabling holding of the examinations in an orderly manner, the city commissioner, as per the proposal of the district deputy commissioner, has declared an area of 200 metres radius around these examination centres as prohibited areas. This order will be in force for the entire duration of the examinations, ie from April 1 to April 10, 2013.
Other than the candidates appearing for the examinations, assembly or five or more persons, organizing activities which help candidates to copy, distribution of answers to students, and any other illegal acvities aimed at helping students to manipulate the examinations, and conveying information through hand signs or other things, are forbidden. Carrying of deadly weapons or explosives have also been banned.
Photocopying centres are barred from functioning from 30 minutes before the beginning of the respective examinations till the the completion of the examinations in the prohibited area. Use of mobile, pager and other electronic instruments of communications has been barred.
The commissioner has clarified that the ban order will not be applicable for programmes, functions and meeting being organized by the government or as per the order of the government.
