Mangalore: 'Western Notation' book on music by Vijay Noronha released

Mangalore, Mar 27: The first volume of 'Western Notation', a book on music authored by Vijay Noronha, Bellur was released on Wednesday March 27 at St Joseph the Worker Church, Vamanjoor here.
Vijay Noronha is also the founder of Sweet Symphony Institute of Music.
Fr Roshan Crasta blessed and inaugurated the programme with the lighting of the lamp.
Walter Stephen Mendis, chairman of Western Institute of Technology released the book. Addressing the gathering he said, “Efforts that have been put in by Vijay are noteworthy and must be utilized by budding musicians. Talent is a virtue that must be used creatively and also to spread knowledge.”
In his address, Fr Roshan said, “Musicians play instruments and learn the art while listening to popular songs, but Noronha has written this book which will help people to gain a deep understanding of music.
"Music is a mode of relaxation and people should involve themselves in it to a greater extent," he said.
"Through this Institute Vijay is grooming the society musically. Music is a gift from god, the way a person uses this as an opportunity is what matters,” he added.
He also wished success to Noronha and encouraged him to release more volumes for the benefit of the public.
Jayaraj Rego, friend and an avid supporter of Vijay gave a brief introduction of the book.
