Panaji, Mar 26: "The Goa government will crack down the Nigerians involved in crime in the state," chief minister Manohar Parrikar at the State Legislative Assembly on Tuesday March 26.

Parrikar told the House that the police will crack down on Nigerians who are found being involved in crime or overstaying even after their visa has expired.

“We will carry an extensive exercise to find out those who are overstaying,” the chief minister said, adding that those bogus educational institutes helping the Nigerians to get student’s visa to arrive in Goa will also have to face the action.

The chief minister said that those Nigerians who are here on student visa and are not students would be deported from the state.

Stating that the action is initiated against the Nigerians, Parrikar said that 17 Nigerians were arrested last year for drugs related crime.

The issue about increasing involvement of Nigerians was raised by Congress Legislator Vishwajit Rane on the floor of the House. Rane alleged that the Nigerians were involved in drug paddling cases and  crimes like murders.
