Hope DMK reconsiders its decision: Ashwani Kumar

New Delhi, Mar 20 (IANS): A day after the DMK announced the withdrawal of support from the UPA, Law Minister Ashwani Kumar Wednesday hoped that the party "would reconsider its decision".

"We would hope that the DMK would reconsider its decision. The DMK has been a valuable ally. I hope things will be resolved," Kumar told reporters outside the parliament.

The DMK Tuesday quit the UPA and its government, voicing dismay over India's stand over Sri Lanka at the UNHRC.

However, the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government was facing no threat and continued to enjoy majority, Kumar said.

"The UPA government enjoys majority on the floor of the house and we will complete our full term of five years. There is no threat to the stability of the government. Arithmetic is on the side of the UPA," Kumar said.
