Mangalore, Mar 20: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister, C T Ravi, expressed unhappiness at the fact that the state government’s ambitious scheme of providing houses to the weaker sections has not met the desired results in the district. He noted that the performance under housing schemes has been much below the targeted level.

The minister was reviewing progress under various schemes at the quarterly progress review meet of Karnataka Development Programmes held in the city on Monday March 18. He observed that the schemes of the government that are aimed at benefitting the poor classes need to be implemented with earnestness. He called upon the officials concerned to do their best to achieve the targets, besides asking the tahsildars to pay attention to the task of identifying land for allotting sites under housing schemes of the government.

“The roads should be made motorable before the monsoons begin. The task of providing drinking water should be given priority. Wherever tube wells cannot be sunk, alternative arrangements should be made. Applications received under schemes like old age pension, widow pension, etc should be handled immediately,” he instructed.

At the end of the meeting, however, Ravi appeared to have calmed down a bit. He said wherever he has taken the officials to task, he took the step to ensure administrative efficiency, and that he never harbours any individual enmity with any of the officials. MLA, U T Khader, MLC, Mnoappa Bhandary, and zilla panchayat member, Satish Kumpala, actively participated in the deliberations.

Zilla panchayat president, Koragappa Naik, vice president, Ritesh Shetty, deputy commissioner of the district, N Prakash, zilla panchayat chief executive officer, Dr K N Vijay Prakash, standing committee chairpersons, Asha Thimmappa Gowda, and Jayashree, were present.

Goodness gracious!!He seems to be in a fired up hurry to allocate\complete all those things mentioned above, at one go!!!
He may not be knowing, his Govt. is about to vanish from Karnataka for their lethargy\inaction\political turmoil (Power tussel) etc etc. Roads were in deplorable condition for so many years, so much funds allotted but where the funds vanished - woooshhh - gone in somebody's pocket.
People beware of this sudden concern from these BJPwalas. They knew when they won first time and they knew it would be the last time, hence the urgency to pocket as much of everything they could lay their hand upon.
Never forget - their's was a "PARTY WITH A DIFFERENCE"
In Bangalore too, so many times CM\Transport minister etc etc with deadlines, promised to repair the roads only to realise the promises were DEAD before they were announced. Funds never reached the contractor, I guess!!!
BJP place is in the opposition at the most, not to govern even at Taluk level.

Mr. C T Ravi should have taken this initiative long before, not just two months before the election. People of South Canara are very smart they can review the performance of government better than any politicians.
