Udupi, Mar 20: Udupi Block Congress organized a felicitation and thanksgiving ceremony at Chittaranjan Circle on Tuesday March 19.
Oscar Fernandes, AICC general secretary and Rajya Sabha member, congratulated the newly elected Congress councilors and request party activists to work more for the success of the party in the upcoming assembly polls.
“Congress needs to work hard with commitment to repeat this success. The responsibility of the Congress has increased after winning the ULB election,” he said. He assured of friendly governance during the tenure.
“The Congress prioritizes basic facilities such as water, power, health, and education. This is a place of communal harmony and there are people from different religions who support the religious works of others. Respecting all is needed as we live in India,” he added.
Jayaprakash Hegde, Udupi-Chikmagalur MP, said that the winners of the ULB polls should not consider themselves as leaders and should instead dedicate themselves to the service of the people.
“Central government, state, and CMC will wok together and get maximum benefit for the upliftment of our district. Center has released sufficient funds but these have not been used properly. Now it is the responsibility of the newly elected members to make use of the available funds. Central government is focusing more on small and medium towns in the second phase of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission,” he added.
Hegde expressed confidence about the success of the party in the forthcoming assembly polls. “People are tired of a government without governance. The BJP always focused on corruption and illegal activities,” he chided.
Pramodh Madhwaraj, president, block Congress, Amruth Shenoy, president, youth wing, Veronica Carnalio, president, Mahila Congress, Vinay Kumar Sorake, Vasanth Salian, Ashok Kodavoor, Rajesh, and Divakar Kundar were present.
