Umesh took over charge at the city crime records bureau here on Monday March 18.
It may be recalled that BJP and Hindu organizations had alleged highhandedness on the part of Umesh and another constable of Kavoor police station, and accused them of resorting to unprovoked caning of their leaders during the victory procession of newly elected corporator, Muhammed, on March 14, thereby injuring former BJP corporator, Sharat Kumar, and another person.
Friction had arisen between the Congress and BJP workers relating to the use of recently formed Katte in Kunjathbail Kavoor, during the above celebration.
BJP and Sangh Parivar organizations had demanded for the immediate transfer of the sub inspector in question. They had also called for a bandh of Kavoor on Tuesday March 19, in support of their demand.
As the city police commissioner has taken a decision on the issue and transferred the sub-inspector of Kavoor, the organizations have withdrawn their call for Kavoor bandh today.
