Lucknow, Mar 15 (IANS): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who completed his first year in power Friday, conceded that law and order in the state was a "matter for concern" and that "one bad incident can destroy the image and efforts" of his government.

Interacting with media persons, he said he was watching officials and would take action against those not working.

"There are good officials and bad officials, I urge everyone to work for the prosperity of the state," he said while spelling out the priorities of the state government.

In a lighter vein, Akhilesh Yadav said that he and his party understood that IAS officials were "Invisible after Sarkaar".

Asserting that his government had succeded in bringing back democracy to the state, the chief minister said he was happy that many of the poll promises, including distribution of free laptops and the unemployment allowance, were fulfilled.

"By implementing the poll promises, a new culture has been ushered in the state and we would like to continue with the pace," he said.

Asked to spell out his priorities for the next year, the chief minister said that "permanent development" in infrastructure, agriculture, industry and education would be taken up in a big way.

He also thanked the media and the people for their support in not only bringing to light the successes of his government but also for "critical appraisal" of the one-year tenure.

Asked what marks would his father and Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav give him, he said he hoped to get good marks.
