Udupi: Police nab three thieves - Jewellery, bike seized

Udupi, Mar 10: Three persons have been taken into custody for allegedly stealing jewellery worth Rs 2.4 lac from a house in Mullagudde, Uchila here on March 3.

The police took into custody Rajesh Molly (35), a resident of Manjarabettu, Yellur and his associates Narayan Shetty (56), a resident of B C Road and a bus driver by profession, Ramanath Devadiga (41) of Kukkikatte and his brother-in-law of Rajesh.

The accused have been produced before the court and sentenced to jail.

It is said that prime accused Rajesh Molly broke into the house when owner Poornima Karkera had gone to her maternal house. Interrogation revealed that Rajesh had spent nearly two hours in the house, during which, he dressed up in women’s lingerie that was in the cupboard. He even left condom in the house and left the place after a shower, said police.

Rajesh then took his associate Narayan Shetty to Vittal Cooperative Society and mortgaged a stolen gold chain under Shetty’s name and shared the money. Similarly, under the name of Ramanath Devadiga they mortgaged a gold chain in Koramgrapadi Cooperative Society and shared the money. Rest of the jewellery was with the accused.

In addition, the police seized cash of Rs 30,000 and a Pulsar bike belonging to Narayan Shetty, said police reports.


Arrest

Under the direction of Udupi district police superintendent Boralingayya, and the police team led by DySP Jayant Shetty, Kapu Circle Inspector Sivananda Valikar successfully arrested the accused within five days of the incident.

Padubidri inspector Mahadeva Shetty and CCB police Sudhakar, Suresh, Prakash Rajesh, Shreedhar Shettigar, Dharmendra, Rajkumar, Prashant, Dinesh and Sandeep were also the part of the operation.

Accused Rajesh Molly is a city bus cleaner. Earlier, a case was registered against him in regard to stealing of tape recorder along with his brother Shivaraj.

    its all about right upbringing. Such upbringing can only happen if you responibly think about having and raising kids, not producing just for the sake of increasng numbers. If the kid begins lack of care from their parents due to many siblings or their activites are not moniterd by parents due to their work, financial conditions, lack of time, too many kids then its not diffcult for children to stray as they grow up.
    So lets agree that there are black sheep in every community and no community is full of saints and holy cows!!!

    Congrats to Udupi Police. You got a good catch. May be playing cricket before. How they entered the house and how cleverly shared money by mortgaging in society. Society people must take their ration card, Photos and other details fully. They may give false address also. Still the chor were clever but Udupi police acted well and done a very good job. Hats off to them.
