Panaji, March 7 (IANS): Goa's ruling BJP Thursday said the allotment of an industrial plot to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar's son was as per rules, refuting the Congress's charge of nepotism.
Speaking to reporters at the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) headquarters, state party vice president Wilfred Mesquita said all due processes were carried out in the allotment of the plot at the Tuem industrial estate to Abhijat Parrikar for setting up a hydraulics and pneumatic factory.
"There is no chance of favouring him. All the processes were followed. The chief minister's son is a Goan entrepreneur, so he can apply," Mesquita said.
The Congress, for over two weeks, has been accusing the BJP government of giving the chief minister's son a plot out of turn.
While the opposition has further demanded a vigilance probe in the plot allotment, the state industries department as well as the members of the Goa Industrial Development Corporation's (GIDC) allotment committee have denied any wrongdoing in the allotment of plots.
