Hotelier Karunakar Shetty from Udupi dies in accident near Hubli

Udupi, Mar 6: An hotelier in Sangli, Maharashtra, hailing from Kemtoor here passed away in an accident near Hubli on Monday March 4.
The deceased is identified as Karunakar Shetty (71). His wife and the driver who were critically injured are undergoing treatment in a hospital at Hubli.
The incident took place when the tyre of the car they were travelling in exploded. They were going back to Sangli from Kemtooru.
Hailing from Kemtoor, Shetty left to Sangli at a young age. He has been a prominent hotelier for the past 52 years. Owner of Hotel Udaya and Hotel Priya, Shetty used to lend his full support to Kemtoor Vishnumoorthy temple, Babbuswami temple and several others. He was active in social and religious works.
He had also initiated Tulunada Sangha in Sangli. He was also famous in the wrestling arena and was popularly known as ‘Pappa’ in Sangli.
Karunakar Shetty is survived by his wife and son.
