Udupi: Thieves loot house in family's absence

Udupi, Mar 4: Thieves broke into a house near Uchila-Mullagudde and decamped with gold ornaments worth several lacs.

On Sunday March 3, Manjunath’s wife Poornima locked the house and left for her parental house to attend a puja. Her mother-in-law Gulabi was on a visit to Mumbai.

On Monday February 4 morning, Poornima received information from her neighbours that theft had taken place in the house. A small Mangalsutra, bangle, chain, pair of earrings and other gold ornaments, altogether weighing more than eight sovereigns were stolen.

It is said that the thieves broke the door lock and entered the house.

Kaup circle inspector Shivananda Valikar, Padubidri inspector Mahadev Setty, Kaup crime branch inspector Rajendra Nayak rushed to the spot along with canine squad and fingerprint experts.

Kaup police have registered a case.
