Udupi, Mar 2: BJP MLA Raghupati Bhat on Friday March 1 claimed that majority of promises made to the public by the districts BJP in its 2007 manifesto had been fulfilled, and new manifesto has been prepared based on the success formula of 'district development and its fulfillment'.
He spoke after releasing the BJP manifesto at a press meet here.
The manifesto includes road development measures such as Adi Udupi to Malpe two-way road worth Rs 24 crore; MGM - Budnaru up to Diana Theater new road; and four-lane road from Manipal to Parkala high school. Land aquisition for the same will soon be completed, he said.
Manipal Syndicate circle to DC office which extends to 100 Ft will be a four-lane road; the Manipal Post office to Industrial area will also converted to a four-lane road; drainage systems in Manipal, Santhekatte, Kallianpur and Adi-Udupi will be upgraded.
"As Udupi is a tourist destination, new schemes and projects will be taken into consideration. Malpe to Padukere Bridge will be completed within a year. A new bridge will be constructed from Mooduperampali to Kolalgiri over the Swarna River".
At the heart of the city, a four-floor parking lot will be constructed. Parks for children and leisure will be constructed at Malpe, Santhekatte, Bailoor and Manipal. There will be further development of the cricket ground at Beedingudde,
Around 1,700 homeless people will be given flats to stay. Rickshaw stands will be provided with an inter lock system.
A scheme under which Rs 30 Lac will be rendered to differently-abled people will be introduced. There also will be a 24-hour helpline set up at CMC. Hi -tech bus stops will be constructed in the city.
"When Congress was in power they distributed 57 acres of land to the people of Malpe, but Kola and Malpe- Padukere title deeds were given without survey numbers (RTC showed the land as sea). After BJP came to power the same 230 members were given title deeds with survey numbers and 143 are yet to be distributed. This will be the best example for the fraud that has been committed by the Congress party."
"Although in the 13th annual budget the center had alloted Rs 10 crore to the state, it is the minimum that a state receives, and Congress has no plans to increase this amount," he added.
