Mangalore, Feb 28: “For the convenience of traders, the government has introduced various e-governing tools which will also reduce the valuable time of dealers,” said V V Hodlur, deputy commissioner of commercial taxes.
He was addressing the gathering during a workshop organized by Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) on KVAT e-initiatives of commercial taxes department on Wednesday February 27.
Speaking in detail, Hodlur said the department has introduced various e-tools like ‘E-Vardan’ for online registration, ‘E-Varadi’ for submission of returns, E-Payment for online payment of taxes, ‘E-Sugam’ for request and download of form for goods movement, E-No due certificate for request and issue of no due certificate, E-Grievance for online grievance redressal, and several others.
“Similarly, there are various mobile-based services like ‘M-Sugam’ for SMS-based request and downloadable ‘Sugam’ for dealers, M-Payment for SMS-based alert to dealers on e-payment, and ‘M-Grahak’ for grievance redressal,” he said. Adding further, Hodlur said that the identity of the person who has expressed grievance will be kept confidential.
He said that the e-payments can be made under KVAT, CST, KTEG, and PT acts adding that the department is very happy as around 96 percent of the people have opted for e-payment.
“As on February 22, 2013, 804 hotels, 26 clubs, 59 hospitals, and 540 marriage halls have submitted returns under the Luxury Act,” added Hodlur.
Mohamed Ameen, president of KCCI, G G Mohandas Prabhu, former president, Hemanth Kumar, joint commissioner, Mangalore, and Ganesh Bhat, treasurer, KCCI, were also present.
