Mangalore, Feb 28: The election manifesto of the JD(S) for the upcoming local body election was released by the party leaders in a formal function organized at Pio Mall here on Wednesday February 27.

Speaking after the release, JD(S) leader B Nagaraj Shetty said that the local elections have been already declared and the preparation to compete for the election is on full swing.

“There is in fact, very little time for campaigning. We have very enthusiastically released the election manifesto and official campaigning will start tomorrow. We have nearly 48 official JD(S) candidates and nearly four to five independently-supported candidates on the list,” he said.

“The city will be beautified in the next five years if the party gets a majority in the upcoming election and gets chosen to rule the MCC. Lot of development work has been carried out in the past days, but it is evident that the development has been carried out without proper planning, as footpaths, drainages, and gutters are missing on the concrete roads in the city,” he added.

“If JD(S) comes to power and if no development is carried out afterwards, the JD(S) will not come asking for votes in the next elections. Party state leaders H D Deve Gowda and Kumaraswamy have given special responsibilities to us to ensure that JD(S) gets a majority and a chance to rule the MCC and work towards the development of the city and the state as well. Many more facts and figures have been mentioned in the manifesto so as to help people understand the present situation and the development that is needed in the coming days, with reference to priority,” promised Shetty.

M G Hegde welcomed and Shashiraj Shetty proposed the vote of thanks. Chittaranjan Rai, Sureshchandra Shetty, Gopalkrishna Attavar, Akshith Suvarna, and Aslam were also present.
