He sister Sayima Parveen (12) was injured critically and is admitted to a hospital in Mangalore.
The driver of the Alto was driving rashly and at a high speed, sources said. The impact of the accident was such that the two sisters were thrown away. Sadima was rushed to a hospital in Padubidri, where doctors pronounced her brought dead.
Sources said that the car stopped 200 metres away from the accident spot on the right side of the National Highway.
It is said that the locals gathered at the spot soon after the accident and thrashed the driver, before handing him over to the police.
Padubidri police have registered a case.
Among the three children of Moulavi Mohammed Shaukat, the elder son is pursuing his PU studies. The elder daughter Sadima was studying in Class 9 at Saraswati Mandir School while the injured Sayima is studying in class 7 at Zilla Panchayat Model school.
Sources said that the two girls were brilliant in studies and never missed school.
The single-lane road at Tenka reportedly claimed six lives in two separate accidents earlier. Hence, permission was granted to widen it to two lanes.
At the accident spot in Tenka, unauthorized trucks are parked on the either side for about 300 metres from Tenka board school to Nimrah mosque. Also, as it is a newly constructed two-lane road with no proper sign boards installed yet, drivers get confused while taking diversion.
After the recent highway bandh, the officials promised that the highway works would be started within 10 days, but it has turned out to be an empty promise.
