Beijing, Feb 23 (IANS): Police in China have arrested 353 people for using unauthorised online services to book an excessive number of train tickets and reselling them for profit.
In the crackdown on illegal use of the online train ticket booking system, police have cracked 1,155 cases and confiscated over 80,000 tickets so far, Xinhua reported.
The suspects were found to have used unauthorised web browser plug-ins that allowed them to book the tickets, railway police said.
Train tickets are difficult to get during China's Spring Festival holiday. During the 40-day period -- Jan 26 to March 6 -- Chinese are expected to make more than 220 million journeys by train.
