Mangalore: 'Sipoy Saant' religious play to be staged on Mar 24

Mangalore, Feb 20: The muhurat of the religious Konkani play 'Sipoy Saant' was held at Parish Hall, St Sebastian Church here on February 20.
The play will be staged at St Agnes open ground on March 24 at 6 pm.
Parish priest of Bendore Fr Antony Serrao blessed the gathering.
The play was inaugurated by Rohan Monteiro and Fr Antony Serrao by lighting the lamp. Author of 'Sipoy Saant' Claude D'Souza then handed over the script to the director of the play Adolphus Cutinha (Dolla).
Addressing the gathering Adolphus said that the same play was presented 25 years ago and performed in 3 stages. "This time it will be performed in 7 stages with 50 artistes. I am sure the play will be a hit," he said, urging all the artistes and the organizers to co-operate and make this programme a grand success.
Fr Antony Serrao said that the main aim in organizing the play was to bring back the memories of Saint Sebastian and his life. "The play will boost the spirit of the parishioners and strengthen their faith," he added.
Proprietor of Rohan Corporation, Rohan Monteiro said, " The Konkani play 'Sipoy Saant ' will enlighten the faithful and will also bring back the old memories of Saint Sebastian and fill them with new spirit." Monteiro assured his wholehearted support towards this good cause.
Vice-president, parish pastoral council Ronald Valder proposed the vote of thanks. Leslie Rego welcomed the gathering and compered the programme.
