Mangalore, Feb 20: Monappa Bhandary, BJP district spokesperson, briefed the media on Tuesday February 19 about the party’s preparations ahead of the local elections, and said the party is getting ready for the elections and pre-party meetings are being conducted on the issue of candidate and strategy for the elections.
"In the last Mangalore City Corporation election, the BJP secured 35 seats of the 60,” he said.
“In Moodbidri municipality, BJP won 4 seats by contesting in 6 out of 23 seats; in Ullala municipality the party won 6 seats out of 27 while in Puttur municipality the party won 15 of 28 seats. In Bantwal municipality election, BJP won 10 out of 23 seats; in Belthangady town panchayat election BJP won 4 seats out of 11, and in Sullia town panchayat the party won 9 out of 18 seats,. Out of a total 189 seats, BJP has competed for 157 seats and won 84 in local elections in the district. But, this time, the BJP will win 125 seats in the district,” added Bhandary.
He said that after the BJP came to power in the MCC, there has been no scarcity of water in the city and the reservation of SC/ST has increased from 18 percent to 22 percent. Bhandary added that work which was not done for 60 years has been done by the BJP which has also given more importance to cleanliness.
He said that th candidate list will be announced within two days. Slamming the comments of Dhanjaya Kumar, Bhandary said that it would be better if Kumar behaved better instead of trying to confuse the people.
Nithin Kumar, Shreekar Prabhu, Devdas Shetty, Franklin Monteiro, H K Purshotham, Raj Gopal Rai, and Guruprasad were present on the occasion.
