Mangalore: Umbrellas back in business as city gets drenched in heavy rains

Mangalore, Feb 17: The people of Mangalore woke up to pouring rains on Sunday February 17. The entire city received heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunder at a few places.
The unexpected showers that first hit the coastal region about three days back have brought welcome respite from the scorching heat.
However, the sudden rain has also resulted in several areas in the city and outskirts getting inundated, causing much inconvenience to commuters and pedestrians.
Several areas were choked with water up to the knee level.
In a rare sight for February, people were seen making their way through the heavy rains with colourful umbrellas. As it had rained throughout the night too, not many were not caught unawares.
The rain subsided as the day progressed, but the overcast conditions remained.
On Saturday February 16, Subramanya received highest the rainfall, with Bajpe and Moodbidri too getting drenched.
B C road experienced only drizzles while in Belthangady, Guruvayanakere, Kadaba, Beltangady it poured heavily.
Parts of Udupi too experienced moderate rainfall on Saturday.
