Mangalore, Feb 16: "In the present situation where every woman is a victim of some kind of harassment, it is important for them to be aware and face the problems which may come their way", said Rohini, district information officer.
She addressed the gathering during an interaction programme on atrocities on women held at Veerakesari Mithra Vrindha hall in Kumpala, Someshwar gram panchayat limits on February 14.
The programme was organized by Prajana counselling center, Jana education trust, Prerana Okkuta and by Sugrama Sangh.
"The work of eradicating assault and discrimination on women should be done at all houses on a continuous basis", said Rohini.
On the occasion, awareness songs, dances related to the topic were presented.
Dr Ronald Anil Fernandes, journalist and vice president of Red Cross Society flagged off the programme by the distributing ‘Woman and Law’ book to everyone.
Krishna Moolya, director of Jana education trust gave a brief introduction on the campaign while William of Prajna counselling gave a message on prevention of atrocities on women.
Ramani, president of Someshwar gram panchayat presided over the programme.
Sheena Shetty, Vrindha, president of Meramajalu panchayat, Clara, taluk panchayat member, Irin, vice president of Munnur gram panchayat, Vijaya, vice president of Belma gram panchayat, Zeenath, president of Prerana Okkuta, Vishwanath Shetty, Satyanarayan among others were present.
