Mangalore, Feb 16: A mini goods van Force Trump, hit a protect over head barricade in Jyothi near Goldfinch hotel at around 6 pm on February 15. The vehicle and the barricade are damaged, but the driver escaped unhurt.
Eye witnesses state that the vehicle entered the lane after which the heavy barricade immediately fell over the vehicle. The broken barricade and the vehicle were later set aside to ensure smooth movement of traffic.
Speaking to Daijiworld, some of the staff at Goldfinch said that the bridge is too old and it is utilized for the use of a single house at the top of the bridge. It is a bridge that connects the main road to a private compound.
The bridge has a sign board stating, 'No Entry for Heavy Vehicle'. But the recent accidents that took place in the spot are not heavy vehicles, but mini vans, tempos and pick up vans. The bridge is at such a height wherein a tempo or a mini lorry can pass through.
But the owner of the compound has put two barricades on the either side of the bridge at a low level that brings about confusion for the vehicles that pass through.
"The barricades have been constructed by the bridge owners illegally", Goldfinch staff opined.
