Udupi, Feb 11: Malpe witnessed an exceptional devotional evening through Srinivasa Kalyana Mahothsava on Sunday February 10. Malpe Srinivas Kalyanothsava Samithi and Shree Venkatramana Temple Karampalli organized the event which included the marriage rituals of Thirumala Thirupathi Gods at the Malpe shores.
The rituals were held at Godholi Lagnam at 5.30 pm. The statue of Sridevi Bhoodevi and Shree Srinivas were brought from Thirupathi, Andhra Pradesh.
The Pooja and marriage function took place with chanting of devotional hymns. The Nadhaswaram team added a different flavor to the function.
The head of the fishermen association, Hiriyanna T Kidiyoor and Raghupathi Bhat represented the bride’s side; from the groom’s side there was the CM’s secretary Prasad Ghar and Dr G Shankar.
Tirupathi Temple trust president Gurupaj Acharya , L V Subrahamanya, secretary and G Shankar presided over the function. Pramod Madwaraj, Kiran Kumar, Keshav Kundar, Jaya C Kotian Yashpal Suvarna and others were present.
Dhasavarenya Annamacharya’s songs were sung by the musical teams.
Puttige Seer Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji addressed the audience and said, “Our ancestors taught us many ways of praying to God or reaching to God; there may be different castes, religions and variety but the ultimate idea is that everyone needs God”.
Kajampadi Subrahmanya Bhat said, “Man has both good and bad qualities, and in order to attain a better life it is advised to pray to God. Earlier, although people were poor, they were closer to God because they made a commitment to God. Currently people are busy with basic things like house or financial status which are not as important as showing our love to God”.
