Beltangady, Feb 11: Beltangady Varado Yuva Sambram took place at St Raphael Church, Badyar on February 10.
"Let us live our youth with the gift of faith" was the theme for the day. The celebration began with holy Mass at 10 am. Fr Rohith D'Costa, assistant director of St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor was the main celebrant. He preached an inspiring homily on the theme. Fr Simon D'Souza, the Varado youth director and Fr Felix Monteiro, parish priest of Badyar were con-celebrants.
Later, to inspire youth a panel discussion with Sabitha Monis ( who lost her hands; has completed her MSW and currently working at Alva's College as a main officer), Sunil Moras (stammering youth who provides jobs for 50 people while running his own industry at Madantyar) and Vijay Monis ( who is dumb and deaf; is an artist and working as a tailor) was arranged.
The talk appealed to the youth while inspiring them to work towards their goals.
Thereafter, the ICYM theme song competition, games and exercises were conducted and winners were awarded.
At 4 pm for the valedictory program Fr James D'Souza, the dean of the varado presided over the function and gave away the trophy to Ujire unit and delivered a beautiful message to youth. Fr Simon D'Souza, Fr Felix Monteiro, Fr Richard D'Almeida (parish priest of Nala), William Sequeira-varado youth president, Dolphy D'Souza-Badyar PPC-vice-president, Sujith Crasta-Badyar ICYM president and Joshita Moras were on the dais. Sunitha D'Souza,Varado ICYM secretary was also present.
250 youth took part in the Yuva Sambram. Badyar ICYM unit were the host. Flavia Moras-Badyar ICYM secretary gave the vote of thanks. Vishal Monis of Ujire youth compered the entire program.
