Government notifies air cargo complex at Mangalore International Airport

Mangalore, Feb 6: Here's good news for Mangaloreans. The union finance ministry has notified the long-awaited air cargo complex at the airport.
Disclosing this in a media release, Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) stated that with this notification, flow of air cargo despatches from Mangalore to various overseas destinations will take place and thus encourage exporters, manufacturers of consumable items, unaccompanied baggages, agricultural, horticultual, floricultural, fisheries exports from this region.
In its notification, the union finance ministry stated that it has allowed 'unloading of imported goods and the loading of export goods or any class of such goods' at Mangalore airport.
Hailing the move, the KCCI in its release thanked various airport and customs officials, ministers of state and central government, particularly Dr M Veerappa Moily and the media for playing an instrumental role in fructifying the long-awaited demand of the people of the coastal region.
