Billion-dollar insurance taken out for Russian museum

Moscow, Feb 5 (IANS): The contents of the Russia Central Naval Museum have been insured for $2 billion in case of transport damage, chief curator of the museum Natalya Shishkova said Monday.

Shishkova made the announcement as the museum moves from St. Petersburg's Vasilievsky Island to the Kryukovskaya barracks, reported Xinhua.

The insurance policy came amid reports on damage of key exhibits.

Shishkova described the damage incurred so far during the transport as "minor" and assured the public that any possible damage to the exhibits would be covered by the extensive insurance policy.

The Russian Central Naval Museum is scheduled to re-open on its new site this spring.
