Mangalore, Feb 4: ABVP activists formed human chain at Basaveshwara Circle in the city and demanded the district administration to take stringent action against drug mafia which claimed the life of 18-year-old girl Sneha.
Addressing the protestors ABVP state secretary Ramesh said, “Dakshina Kannada district is a leading district in state. There are many reputed education institutions, and students from all over the country come here to pursue their education. Innocents students like Sneha fall prey to such mafia.”
ABVP demands stern action against drug mafia, he said.
ABVP Mangalore urban organizing secretary Vinay Horatti said that the incident has awakened the whole society. Some miscreants make innocent youths as their victims. Why don't the police notice the wide drugs network prevalent in the city, he questioned.
Police should form separate wing to put an end to drug rackets, the culprits should be severely punished. Even the parents should keep a watchful eye over their children at home. The district administration immediately should organize meeting with the student union leaders, educational management and public representatives to bring an end to drug mafia, he added.
