Mangalore, Feb 2: As per the latest information, it has now been confirmed that police raid on a music cafe at Valencia here on Saturday February 2 was to avoid a possible attack by Bajrang Dal.
Initial reports reports stated that police had raided the G6 Music Cafe based on a tip-off from Bajrang Dal as the cafe was running illegally.
However, reliable sources said that Bajrang Dal had allegedly planned an attack on the music cafe over 'immoral activities'. Pandeshwar police received prior information about the attack and hence reached the spot to avert any possible attack.
As it is was taken as a police raid initially, frightened students at the DJ party ran out and escaped. However, police intended to clear the place to protect them from harm, said a police official speaking to Daijiworld.
But on inspection of the spot, the police learnt that the place was running illegally and had licence only to run a bar and not for hosting live bands or DJ music. The police then conducted a raid and removed all DJ sets and other equipment.
A live band was scheduled to perform on Saturday night.
Sources said that the bar is owned by the son of a higher police official in the city.
