Bangalore, Feb 2: In a unique press conference held here on Friday February 1, Rudolf D’Souza from Karkala claimed that his wife had started to live separately many years back, and that she had kept his son away from him since the last 14 years. In a tearful appeal, he pleaded for an opportunity to be able to meet and converse with his son.
“My son does not know who I am. He has even forgotten by name. Because of the selfish attitude of my wife and her family, I am going through hell. I married Diana from Udupi in 1996. Within four years, she left me, without citing any reason. Since then she has never spelt out the circumstances under which she took this decision. We have a son named Glen, and he was two when my wife abandoned me. I have never seen my son since then. My agony has multiplied because of the knowledge that he has forgotten me,” he explained.
The case filed in this connection is being heard by the state High Court. Rodolf says he expects the disposal of the case early. He said he works in Kuwait, while his wife has been living in Dubai. Accusing his wife of being driven by selfish interests, he said people fail to properly assimilate the harassment being meted out to men by such women.
President of ‘Christ’ organization, V Jahgirdar, who had accompanied Rudolf, said that many men have been facing such mental torture and going through grief each passing day. He added that the children are being neglected because of the tussle between the parents. He urged the government to bring about amendments to laws to ensure that the children do not experience travails in such cases, and requested courts to dispose of such suits as soon as possible
