Bantwal, Feb 2: A bike was found sunk, under suspicious circumstances in the Netravathi River.
The CT 100 bike was found under a small bridge in Kanchikara pete wherein the small stream joins the river.
The bike was found by a passerby on February 1 in the morning.
Circle inspector Anil S Kulkarni, Inspector Shekar, other police officials along with the fire brigade arrived at the spot who along with the help of the locals uplifted the submerged bike.
The firemen searched along the stream for any life but returned without finding anything.
The small bridge which contains no barriers contains a lot of cracks as a result of which traffic has been diverted; but of recent two wheeler vehicles and auto rickshaws travel across the bridge.
It is suspected that either the bike fell through the bridge cracks or a possibility that some culprits disposed off the bike into the stream to destroy evidence.
The bike has a Chikmagalur vehicle registration (2648).
More details are awaited as further investigations are being conducted by the police officials.
