Bangalore, Feb 1: Yet another ruling BJP MLA and staunch supporter of former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, Tarikere Suresh, submitted his resignation letter to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Friday.
The resignation letter was submitted to the State Legislative Assembly Secretary P Omprakash in the absence of Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah in the State Legislature Secretariat.
The resignation, however, is yet to be accepted by the Speaker and might be done after his return.
Suresh is likely to join Yeddyurappa’s Karnataka Janata Party soon.
With the acceptance of the resignation letter by the Speaker, the number of BJP MLAs loyal to Yeddyurappa and quitting the ruling party has gone up to 14.
The Speaker has already accepted the resignation of 12 MLAs on Tuesday.
However, the resignation letter of Vittal Kakakdonda on technical grounds. It is not known whether the MLA will resubmit his resignation letter.
The Jagadish Shettar ministry, however, is not immediately in danger.
The Karnataka Governor H R Bhardhwaj is scheduled to address the join session of the State Legislature on February 4, Monday.
The presentation of the annual budget for the year 2013-14 is fixed for Feburary 8. However, it is not clear whether the Chief Minister, who is also holding the finance portfolio, will be in a position to go ahead with his plans to present the budget.
