Udupi, Jan 31: Keshava Moily, village accountant of Sooda gram panchayat was caught red-handed by the Lokayukta police while accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a person in connection to the RTC work of a piece of land.
Nasir Abdul Khader of Moojur had purchased a land under Sooda gram panchayat and in order to obtain the RTC, he submitted an application on May 7, 2012. Initially Moily who demanded Rs 15,000 for the work took Rs 11,000 from Nasir but later again demanded for Rs 3,000.
Abdul who did not want to offer bribe contacted Lokayukta police through his son-in-law Sirajuddin. Acting on this, police on Wednesday raided gram panchayat office and arrested the accused while accepting bribe.
The accused was produced before court which remanded him in judicial custody.
Under the guidance of Lokayukta SP Mohandas Shetty, Vittal Das Pai, DYSP, inspector Dinesh Kumar, CI Thimayya, Diwakar Sharma, Diwakar Suvarna, Santhosh, Shobha, Umesh, Sridar, Riyaaz Ahmed, Nagesh Udupa, Ashok, Dinesh, Laxmeendar Shetty among others were part of the investigation.
